Australian sales charts, week ending 02/11/08

PALGN News | The charts are unable to hide from the Fallout.
After Wii Fit ruled the charts with an iron fist for such a long time, we have our second brand new number one in as many weeks. This week, the honour goes to the post-apocalyptic RPG from Bethesda, Fallout 3, on the Xbox 360. Last week's first place finisher, Fable 2, slipped ever so slightly, moving into second place, which, in turn, pushed Wii Fit down into third place. Places four and five are the same as the first place, Fallout 3, on the PlayStation 3 and PC respectively. Not a bad debut, then.

Slipping three places from its usual third place is the Wii Play/Wii remote combo, closing the week in sixth place. Also falling three spots to end in seventh position is Mario Kart Wii, while Sight Training made yet another re-entry into the charts at eighth place. Numbers nine and ten of the charts are occupied by the same game, Far Cry 2, with the PS3 version faring slightly better than the Xbox 360 version.

Next week, the charts welcome the likes of Gears of War 2, Rock Band and LittleBigPlanet. It's going to be a tough fight to come up on top this Christmas.

The charts are updated weekly and are provided by those wonderful people at GfK.

Next week, LittleBigPlanet number 1. At least, I hope it will be.

Gears of War 2 will be #1 next week, the install base of the 360 alone guarantees it. LittleBigPlanet will definetely top the PS3 charts though.

Gears 2 and LBP - competing consoles, flagship titles, polar opposite genres. It should be an interesting battle.

I'm a PS3 owner and still think Gears 2 will smash it.

Guys, does it really matter which game will sell more?

Both games are awesome, they are not in direct competition with each other so the sales of one of them will not have a bearing of how the other sells.

At the end of the day, both games will sell very well and MS and Sony will both be happy.

nah, i suspect Rock Band will be No.1 next week, helped along by the number of stores doing the full instrument bundle for such a relatively cheap price

In case you haven't noticed, Guitar Hero: World Tour is out next Wednesday. I seriously think that on a Midnight Launch, it will chart in a day.

agreed. in aus the guitar hero has an already established reputation. Those who have researched will know that the instruments in rockband are pretty flimsy too.

Yeah, but they've gone through 4 Generations of changes. There's virtually nothing wrong with the latest set of instruments, they're much minor compared to the first batch of World Tour Kits.

You're all wrong. Next week's number 1 will be Wii Fit again.

DancesInUnderwear is right as he'll be opening his new WiiFit Gym where everyone can workout in front of a TV at a building nearby instead of in the comfort of their living room!

It's the in thing! All the kids are doing it!

Why is sight training in the top 10? Who the hell buys this junk?

Anyway, Wii Fit for the win!

Is it possible that Wii Fit will be the highest selling game in Australian history? If it's not already, it must be close.

I guess it's "possible," though I highly doubt it. The game still has a long way to go to catch up to Super Mario Bros. 0.o

Yeah, I think you may be right.
