This Week's Releases - 27/10/08

PALGN Feature | Take shelter.
This week, Fallout 3 storms onto Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. For 200 years, the surviving population of Washington DC has taken shelter in Vault 101. Your character emerges from the underground in search of their father, to a world ravaged by atomic war. The role-playing game allows players to explore the expansive wastelands of post-apocalyptic Washington DC, with hordes of deadly creatures, raiders, mutants and radiation sickness standing in the way. In addition to playing in real time, you can pause combat with the help of V.A.T.S. (Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System) and target specific enemy appendages. Fallout 3 promises detailed character customisation, hours of adventure and tons of player choice, culminating in one of several endings. Look out for Bethesda's latest epic in stores this Friday.

Atari's swords-and-sandals action title Rise of the Argonauts also arrives on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. As Jason, King of Iolchis, players battle men and beasts with a deadly assortment of weapons and powers. For the low-down on Rise of the Argonauts, head over to our recent preview.

Activision has two games in the pipeline this week. First is the latest edition to the Crash Bandicoot franchise, Crash Bandicoot: Mind Over Mutant on Xbox 360, PS2, PSP, Wii and Nintendo DS. Next, Spider-Man earns another outing in Spider-man: Web of Shadows on every platform, except PlayStation Portable.

Finally, PC owners can get their next off-road fix in Pure, and the episodic Siren: Blood Curse is released on disc for PlayStation 3.

Where's Pro Evolution Soccer 2009? JB says it's released tomorrow, but elsewhere, it looks like it sneaked out last week! That said JB would not sell it to me before Thursday! Oh well - $89 at JB if you're interested.
