This Week's Releases - 13/10/08

PALGN Feature | Batty saints and big daddies.
This week, THQ's third-person sandbox adventure Saints Row 2 is released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 (the PC version will be out in a few weeks). Players should be aware that the game comes in two different packages; in addiction to the stand-alone game, fans can purchase the Collector's Edition. The Collector's Edition comes in unique packaging (a 'gun' box for Xbox 360 and metal tin for PS3) and includes an artbook, double-sided poster of Stilwater and 1 GB USB key containing wallpapers for your console. Saints Row 2 hits store shelves this Thursday. If you haven't read PALGN's review of Saints Row 2 yet, you can check it out here.

Also landing on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 is Fracture, a third-person shooter from LucasArts and Day 1 Studios. In the game, a conflict is brewing between the East and West coasts of Northern America. As a soldier for the West, players are sent into hostile territory to stop the brewing civil war. Armed with a device that can raise and lower the ground, you can 'deform' the terrain at whim to overcome the enemy. For our impressions of Fracture, head over to our hands-on preview from earlier in the year.

In the tradition of LEGO Star Wars and Indiana Jones, you can become a blocky version of the Caped Crusader in LEGO Batman: The Videogame (click here for our preview). Players can adventure through Gotham City from Wednesday, when the game is released on every platform imaginable. Stay tuned for PALGN's bargain round-up of LEGO Batman: The Videogame later in the week.

Finally, PlayStation 3 owners can travel to the underwater world of Rapture, with Bioshock finally making its way onto Sony's console this week. To find out what lies in store for the PS3 version of the first-person adventure, head over to our recent preview.

I think I've got Possible Bankruptcy on pre-order. I've also heard that it's got a sequel coming out in early November too.

Yep, next week is gonna be INSANE!

I wasn't planning on Dead Space but I am a survival horror fan so this is almost turning into a must buy...
Plus I'm getting little big planet. And I'm probably getting fifa 09(i'm crossing to the dark side, I'm sick of PES's disdain for fans) and bioshock...
All for PS3 mind you...

I'll definitely be checking out BioShock. The demo was pretty awesome and has me totally drawn to it. Saints Row I'm pretty keen on as well, but as with everybody else, next week is going to be insane! Dead Space is another that I've only just recently taken a lot of interest to, especially after the review from IGN which was greatly positive towards it.

Sacred 2 is out on Wednesday 15th for PC, under the assumption I'm not the only one that cares. onsole versions are next month I think.

But yeah, other than that put me down for Saint's Row 2 as well.

But looking at next weeks titles, this is apparently just the relative calm before the storm.

EB seem to be selling Saints Row 2 already. I'll be picking mine up after work...

Yeah EB will sell a street date marked game as soon as they discover that someone else has broken the release date and the email from up high gets sent out.

Also, I retract my Sacred 2 recommendation. Securom AND an online activation that only allows 2 goes at it. They have the standard licence removal thing etc but this is getting a bit extreme.
