The PALGN Podcast, Episode 46

PALGN Feature | A chat with Michael Abbott, know your roots, and Lock's Quest.
In this, our forty-sixth episode of the PALGN Podcast, we speak to Michael Abbott, site owner of The Brainy Gamer and creator of the the Gamer's Confab, a gaming equivalent of the original London Royal Society created in the 1600's. Whether that means Michael Abbott is actually the gaming equivalent of Robert Boyle is probably open to debate, but it's an interesting discussion none-the-less.

We also check out one of the most sadistic games ever made, Beat Takeshi's Challenge. While it's normally known for being notoriously unfair, that's not why it's important from a design perspective - in this week's episode, we take another look at this game, its highly interesting creator, and exactly why more people should sit up and take notice of this game, irrespective of whether they play it or not.

Wrapping up this week's episode, we have a chat at the THQ offices with Brett Caird, one of the people who worked on Lock's Quest. We also find out that our mobile recording equipment is woefully inadequate - keep an eye on this space for some updates.

And, don't forget that our eGames competition continues to run this week - tune in for your chance to win a double pass for a full day at the expo. If you're one of the two winners, we'll be in contact shortly to explain how to claim your prize.

Short segments from Beat Takeshi's Challenge used in this week's podcast. This week's outro remix is Castlevania III 'Froggy Mosh' by goat and distributed by OverClocked ReMix (www.ocremix.org). For the full bitrate version, why not head over to OverClocked ReMix and download it?

great stuff as usual, but did the sound go funny in the last segment or was it just me?

Yeah, it did, unfortunately. It was recorded live, face-to-face, and as it turns out, our equipment isn't so great. All apologies.

Just listened to this weeks podcast, awesome as usual.

I'm very ashamed to admit I was unfamiliar with the Brainy Gamer blog before I tuned in. But I've just had a squiz and was very impressed. I'm going to be a regular at the site from now on! icon_biggrin.gif
