This Week's Releases - 29/9/08

PALGN Feature | Pure football, amigos.
Blackrock Studios' off-road title Pure lands on store shelves this week. Players can personalise the look of their All-Terrain Vehicle and compete against sixteen friends online in the action racer. For our impressions of the game, head over to our recent preview of the Xbox 360 version. Look out for Pure on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC from this Thursday.

Next up is Samba de Amigo on Nintendo Wii, which allows you to shake the Wii remote and Nunchuk like maracas in time to tunes like Rihanna's Pon de Replay and Ricky Martin's The Cup of Life. Also out on the Wii this week is the Electronic Arts' FIFA 09. The latest version of the football simulator is also released on Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, PSP, DS and PC.

The colourful creatures of Viva Pinata invade the Nintendo DS with Viva Pinata: Pocket Paradise, while aspiring detectives can put their skills (and brains) to the test in Mystery Case Files: Million Heir. Finally, RPG fans can get their next big fix in Sacred 2: Fallen Angel on PC.

I am tempted to get FIFA09 for PSP at Target for $39.95

Seems like a reasonable price for a PSP game on release.

I'm actually surprised that no one has mentioned Samba Di Amigo and Sacred 2! Get on it!

So was the first Sacred any good? I was interested in Sacred 2 until I watched the downloadable trailer. Worst. Trailer. Ever.

Hrmm... I've only seen a gameplay vid or two, I'll have to seek this trailer out immediately! Sounds awesome icon_smile.gif

The first Sacred was 'good', but weighed down by bugs and a lack of polish. I believe that after a good deal of patching it was well worthy of playing. What I've seen of Sacred 2 however made it look pretty good - plsu there have been some good write ups from Kotaku and such.

Edit: Woah... were you talking about this?! I'm not sure what they were trying to achieve with that trailer... or why I suddenly want the game even more, despite how poxy that was. Massive WTF moment.

Edit 2: Oh, I see; Blind Guardian are a band. Gotcha.

Oh man, I loved the original Sacred + expansions, once it was all patched up of course. I thought it was a better Diablo clone than...well Diablo II lol.

I've just spent a couple of hours playing the Sacred II demo and let me tell you - this game is gonna ROCK!!! At least it will ease the pain of waiting for Diablo III. If you're in doubt, I highly recommend you check out the demo, it's beautiful...
