UPDATED: LittleBigPlanet receives solid release date

PALGN News | Find out when you can have LittleBigFun.
Sony has confirmed that their long-awaited, much-anticipated platformer LittleBigPlanet has gone gold and will see release late October.

The title graces store shelves on October 21 in North America and Latin America, October 22 in Australia, Europe, and New Zealand, and October 24 in the UK and Ireland.

For the less mathematically-inclined readers out there, this means that Australian gamers can look forward to jumping into LittleBigPlanet a mere month from today. In the meantime, why not read our recent preview of the game?

UPDATE:

Sony Computer Entertainment have informed us that LittleBigPlanet will actually be released 'officially' in Australia on October 23, with New Zealand presumably seeing release at the same time. The other release dates are unchanged.

As a bonus, Media Molecule and Sony are offering a free Spaceman costume and "Week One" Sackboy T-shirt for a limited time to those who get in early, which is a nice way to prove you were there for the launch.

icon_biggrin.gif most likely candidate for game of the year IMO.

I still dunno if that is the actual release date. That would mean it is coming out on a Wednesday, which games normally don't. And it would mean it will be hard to get, I might have to wait until Thursday icon_sad.gif

I cannot wait, even my GF is looking forward to playing it!

Awesomeness! Again, solidifies October, and November as the best gaming months in history! Hopefully, there'll be some pre-orders left as I'm yet to do so.

It's not that unusual for games to be released on a Wednesday, just look at the recent release of Star Wars: Force Unleashed. A fairly big named title was given the release date of 17th of September which was a Wednesday.

Really looking forward to this title.

Well that's good, a few months ago games never came out unless it was Wednesday. Well, it's not far away now, now I just gotta find a way to get to the shops on Wednesday. I so can't wait for this.

Likely for nomination, however it does have some stiff competition:

GTAIV, MSG4, GoW2, Resistance 2, Fallout 3, Mirror's Edge, Prince of Persia, Left 4 Dead, Project Origin, Red Alert 3 & Street Fighter IV

Cool day before my birthday! man that game looks freaking sweet!

While I'm looking forward to it, I don't think it has much of a chance at GOTY. Keep in mind that this is the year the entire Internet gave GTA IV 10/10s, I don't think anything else is even in the running. Shame...

Funny I thought the "entire Internet" would have included PALGN. Honestly I dont know why though, I mean its good but it's not that good. Personally I would have scored GTAIV at a solid 9.

So far the 08 titles (MGS4, GTAIV) haven't touched last years top titles so far (Bioshock, Mario, Metroid, Mass Effect, CoD4)

Provided it delivers to my expectations, my pick for GOTY will be on Fallout 3
