This Week's Releases - 8/9/08

PALGN Feature | The mercenaries come to town.
It seems like it has been in development for a long time, but Mercenaries 2: World in Flames finally lands on Xbox 360, PS3, PS2 and PC. After a late delay last week, fans can pick up the sequel to the original Mercenaries, which was released a few years ago on Xbox and PS2. Once again, after choosing from three different characters, you drive, fly and wreak havoc over a massive sandbox, this time set in oil-rich Venezuela. Civil war has engulfed the country, so it's up to players to quell the situation, while still amassing a tidy profit. The game features co-op multiplayer, over 130 vehicles and the latest weapons and gadgets, such as (wait for it) satellite-guided bunker-busting mini-nukes. Remember, if you can drive it, fly it, buy it, steal it or blow it up, its in Mercenaries 2: World in Flames, out this Thursday.

Other games gracing all three current-gen consoles – Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii – this week include snooker simulator WSC Real: 2008 (also on PSP) and wrestling title TNA Impact (also on PS2).

Xbox owners have the luxury of even more games, including Warhammer: Battle March and Chris Taylor's Supreme Commander. The RTS has been specifically adapted for the Xbox 360, with new units, updated maps and new multiplayer modes. The final game stepping out on the Xbox 360 this week is the latest edition to the Viva Pinata family, Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise.

Finally, proving that no single platform can hog the spotlight for an entire week, the Nintendo DS has two noteworthy games landing in stores; Sid Meier's Civilization: Revolution and Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen.

Looking forward to iMPACT

Smackdown vs Raw has really become a 2nd rate franchise, its about time TNA is shaking things up. This thing has been in development for 3 years, finally its ready. Cant wait!

TNA have a superior wrestling product than WWE, lets hope they also have a better game product.

TNA! TNA! TNA!

I would like to announce EB broke street date for TNA iMPACT. Dont know how long ago but I managed to pick it up today.

So far it's a pretty steep learning curve after being used to those silly Smackdown games for so long.

So far it's good, gameplay seems fairly deep (only played 3 matches so far) and the graphics are superior to Smackdown vs Raw (360)
