Australian sales charts, week ending 31/08/08

PALGN News | There are actually some new games in the charts this week.
After a slight glitch saw Wii Fit drop down to second place last week, the game that comes with scales came back with a vengeance, taking back the top spot. Wii Play with remote tagged along for the ride, actually budging from its usually rock-solid second place. Quietly snaking back into the charts from nowhere at three is Mario Kart DS, along with the return of Brain Training after a one week absence at four. This confirms what we have long suspected - the DS is more popular than cake. Last week's champion, Mario Kart Wii, suffered a drop of four places to close at five, falling into the shadow of its older sibling.

While the top five is relatively old hat, we get some fresh meat in the bottom half of the charts. The highly anticipated 360 title Too Human - in development since the 90s - has finally hit store shelves, taking up residence in sixth place. Swinging in right behind it in seven is Wii golfing from EA in the form of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2008, while Super Smash Bros. Brawl continued to bounce around the charts, dropping four places to eight from last week. The latest Sims 2 expansion has made an immediate impact on the charts to the surprise of absolutely nobody, debuting at nine. More Brain Training brings up the tail of the charts in tenth place.

The charts are updated weekly and are provided by those wonderful people at GfK.

Just figured it out, the data is from 2 different Week Ending dates.

Because games on the other lists have probably sold more than it.

There's still a GBA chart? They can't be selling that much. No surprises there, mainly Nintendo games.

People probably had the old cached image for the data explaining the PS3 Beijing Olympics game being there.

Why isn't the psp, ps2 and gba charts updated?

I think someone in the website design area needs to look at including the date in the gfk image names - the article says 31/08 but all the tables are from 07/09 and when the next lot of figures comes out it will be for them. It's really annoying and prevents looking at what was going on in the past. If gfk won't let you show old figures then remove the articles.
