Splinter Cell 3 and Halo 2 scoop more awards

PALGN News | More glory for two of gaming's most promising beacons as the Game Critics Awards winners are announced.
The winners of the Game Critics Awards, one of the more notable honours in Videogame Land, have been announced today. Taking in the opinions and views of 35 judges from the world of business, newspapers and, crazily, videogames, the awards acknowledge the very best work on display at E3.

After the nominations were announced on May 27th, it was widely expected that Halo 2 - for a second year running the most-nominated game of the awards - would dominate proceedings to almost the same extent as it did in 2003. Those expectations were confirmed as correct today, with Bungie's epic-looking sci-fi shooter notching up three awards, along with the 'Best Console Game' award that it won last year. Slightly more surprisingly, it was joined by Ubisoft's beautiful Splinter Cell 3, which bagged a hat-trick of awards itself.

Other notable winners included Nintendo's drum-a-thon Donkey Kong Jungle Beat (two awards), EA (who were involved in some capacity with five of the nine games which won awards) and Sony, who ran off laughing maniacally with the 'Best of Show' award for the scratchilicious PSP. Anyway, here's the full list of winners:

Best of Show Sony PSP
Best Original Game Donkey Kong Jungle Beat
Best PC Game Splinter Cell 3
Best Console Game Halo 2
Best Peripheral/Hardware PSP
Best Action Game Halo 2
Best Action/Adventure Game Splinter Cell 3

What I want to know is how can the PSP get best of show when it wasn't even playable?

Other than that, not too many suprises.

games have won awards with pre-rendered videos so why not hardware?

I hate these unplayable games/devices winning awards! Didn't Halo 2 win "best of show" last year, even though it wasn't playable?
Meh.
