PALGN's Periodical Rumour Harvest #1

PALGN Rumour | Super Monkey Ball for PS2? Xbox 2 to be codenamed Xenon?
None of the information contained in this feature is necessarily true, however none of the information contained in this feature is confirmed to be untrue yet either.

Sometimes we hear rumours, whispers etc.. we can't officially confirm so rather than disregard them we're going to have an updated feature every week or so which focuses on these rumours. So we present to you our first of many rumour featurettes.

Super Monkey Ball Deluxe for PS2:
This rumour has been circulating for a while but without an announcement of the titles existance at E3 was quickly forgotten about. The rumour has quickly gained momentum again with Gamestop posting Super Monkey Ball Deluxe on there Playstation 2 release schedule (scheduled for December 1st) at a budget price of approximately $50 Australian. Could Sega be re-releasing Super Monkey Ball for the PS2 with all new features? Just in case you don't believe us here it is... for now:

Nintendo to deliver their own version of the Eyetoy?
After the amazing success of Eyetoy: Play it was only a matter of time before both Microsoft and Nintendo tried to cash in on the success. Nintendo has registered the following titles in Japan. Manebito/Camera and Ningen-Copy/Manebito The only part of that we understand is camera, but take a look at the image registered with the game and it becomes obvious that something is happening.

Xbox to be codenamed Xenon?
Recently an image of the developer kit for the XBox 2 surfaced on the internet and it didn't take long for many people to realise that the image was codenamed Xenon. Take a look at the first image for yourself of "Xenon" and decide if it is fake or true.

That's it for Rumour feature #1, if you have heard any whispers in the gaming industry feel free to let us know at luke@palgn.com.au with the subject line "rumour."

Nintendo's Eye Toy-like device predates the Eye Toy by a few years (unless you count the Game Boy Camera). I believe it was first shown at Space World 2001 along with Stage Debut.

Xenon... gives a whole new meaning to the term "vaporware". icon_lol.gif

Keep this column going, it's a great idea. icon_smile.gif
BTW, ningen (人間) = "human", and manebito (まねビト) = "an imitator".

Intriguing rumors indeed. A nintendo eye-toy device would be great considering their long running history of unmatched innovation im sure they could pull off some great stuff with such a device.

Great article. My highest praise to the author.
