PotW Results: Who will have the best E3?

PALGN News | Everybody's a winner/loser.
The Electronic Entertainment Expo of 2008 has come and gone, with arguably more a whimper than a bang left in its wake. In regards to last week's PotW question however, the results are not quite as clear cut. Literally.

Indeed, divvying the spoils between 'The Big Three's' E3 showings, the negligible distances of votes between each of Microsoft's, Nintendo's, and Sony's drives among the PALGN readership is -- more or less -- evenly admirable.

The Mercedes logo/almost peace sign formed by the pie chart below has spoken. For PALGN, blind fanaticism has given way to equality among all fellow formats.

Or maybe, just maybe, E3 really isn't something to be debated and getting ourselves crazed over any more to begin with.

wow that's really close between Sony and Microsoft there they both had great showings. So i would say that poll is pretty accurate.

It's a shame Sony couldn't counter Square Enix's annoucement of FFXIII going multiplatform. But hopefully down the line Sony will do something to fill that void.

I was sure Sony would pull out the clear victor for 'hardcore' gamers at least, and after the Microsoft conference I was absolutely positive that was the case, even with the FFXIII announcement (which was epically done by the way). But there wasn't a lot of sustenance at the Sony conference really, while Nintendo presented stuff a lot of 'hardcore' gamers have little interest in..

So after all that I'd say Microsoft had the best conference, the new dash is growing on me from the video previews (despite my serious concerns about the avatars) and while I think they're absolute plagiarism, I'm marginally happy to see some party titles on the 360 (Singstar/Lips, Eyetoy/At the Movies etc..) since you know most of the console's games have limited appeal when you've got non-gamer friends who prefer to bring their Wii over than play 360 icon_sad.gif

Plus, Banjo Kazooie and Tooie coming to XBLA is awesome news. Perhaps that means more Rare N64 titles could be on the way.. Perfect Dark XBLA anyone?

Haven't seen any of the videos but I'd say Lips is what Singstar should be like now. Microsoft don't tend to invent new things, but they sure as hell try as hard as they can to improve on what's out there when they're not constrained by things like 13 odd years of backwards compatibility.

Nintendo probably received slightly less because the casual gamers don't really follow E3 as much, hence less to announce. The Wii Motion Plus is promising, IF it can deliver.

heh, kudos to PALGN readers for being essentially balanced in terms of fanboyism - afterall, wasn't that really the underlying question to this poll?

and kudos to PALGN for being balanced enough to attract such a balanced readership.

Are you serious Obs? Nintendo had a shocker yet they came as close as they did. I agree that it says alot of things about the readership - bad things.

ah, but this question was posed before the show started.

"Who will have the best E3?"
not
"Who had the best E3?"

so it's essentially asking:
"Which company are you most hoping to see stuff from?"
or
"Which platform do you follow more?"

and to return essentially even scores, well that kinda points to a mostly equal readership.

as for who did have the best E3... well, i don't think anyone "won" this year, since the whole thing was pretty wishy-washy, but at the same time, all 3 had some reasonably big announcements that will excite certain crowds (FF13, GoW3, Pikmin 3 - for starters).

Oh yeah, it was done before.

You know what? Ya mum.
