The PALGN Podcast, Episode 32

PALGN Feature | Random Walk: Multiplayer, movies, and retro.
Clocking in at approximately 42 minutes, Tristan, Luke M, and Evan go for a walk this week. Tristan brings up multiplayer and we all laugh at Evan's inability to build a credible friends list. Luke brings up games based on movies and wonders what's the point. And Evan, displaying his age yet again, wonders at what point a game becomes 'retro' and the graphics cease to matter. Wrapping it with PALGN's picks, Tristan discusses Chibi-Robo! Plug into Adventure, the story of the robotic slave who could.

This week's outro mix is Gundam Wing Endless Duel 'HeavyArms(LetMeLiftThisLoad)', created by DarkeSword and distributed by OverClocked ReMix (www.ocremix.org). For the full bitrate version, why not head over to OverClocked ReMix and download it?

On the topic on playing retro games via nostalgia: I have discovered some of my fave retro games a few years ago not by nostalgia but by how much fun I had for example ice climber I played that without knowing what it was and had fun with it.
Another example of a more modern retro game is chrono trigger, I also played that not from nostalgia but how good the game was.

So we don't play all retro games because of nostalgia.

I also have to agree with the master system sucking, but it did have some gems.

I also must point out that the master system had far superior graphics than the NES.

Great episode.

I haven't had a chance to listen to this yet, but following up to retro's post, there was an article I read recently that criticised the games industry for casting off 'classic' titles as unplayable once their platform has died.

It's an interesting argument, but really, up until the birth of VHS, cinema was exactly the same. With things like the virtual console, more and more gamers have access to classic games. I can only see availability and desire increasing in years to come.
