Ubidays event to be webcast

PALGN News | Will you be staying up for it?
Ubisoft has revealed that they will be webcasting their Ubidays 2008 opening conference, at UPlay.com. Ubidays is an annual event which Ubisoft holds to show off their lineup for the rest of the year, it's likely to be a large event featuring unannounced games as well as titles such as Rayman Raving Rabbids 3 and Prince of Persia Prodigy.

The conference is held at 7PM Paris time on Wednesday May 28th, but due to time differences anyone wanting to watch the conference will need to be awake at 3AM Thursday May 29th Sydney time, or 5AM Thursday May 29th for New Zealand.

PALGN will be live blogging the event, for those who don't want to watch the video (or those who want to recap when they wake up in the morning). We'll also be in attendance at the event, so expect all of the news from Ubidays to be posted on the site.

Unless they announce they'll be releasing assassins creed on steam for the same price as it's released on steam in america I'm still boycotting ubisoft.

That seems like an odd reason to boycott a company icon_confused.gif Aussies have always been receiving the short end of the stick when it comes to game prices.

I probably won't stay up for it. I'll be bed, dreaming that Ancel and the Montpellier team will formally announce that they are hard at work on Beyond Good and Evil 2.

I won't be staying up for this, but any news on Assassins Creed 2 is welcome.

Yer, but usually you can at least buy from steam at the US prices, but they aren't allowing it to be sold to aussies at all through steam icon_sad.gif.

Um, didn't they do that last week or something?

Pretty sure it was the reason I went and bought BG&E on Monday, too.

I hope you're boycotting Activision as well, since they started the trend with CoD4.

Even then, it's not them - it's Steam who decides the price they sell games for. And Australian Retailers who force them to change it. So if you really want to blame someone, blame retail gaming stores, who simply aren't willing to drop prices to compete with the global market.

Honestly though, why not just import, if it matters that much to you?

Back OT: I think that webcasting the event is a pretty good idea. Imagine if E3 was done that way... it could be a good way for developers to actually reach to a global audience, rather than just reviewers, who, lets face it, are inevitably bias.

A small team doing pre-production, without the backing of Ubisoft, is not what I'd call a sure thing. There's still that one massive hurdle to jump before BG&E2 can see the light of day.

I'm after something concrete, delivered in a formal capacity and Ubidays seems like the ideal place for that to happen. I pray that I wake up to the good news...
