Epic Games acquires developer of Undertow

PALGN News | Will continue to focus on original titles that utilise Unreal technology.
Epic Games has decided to take another developer under their wing by purchasing Chair Entertainment - the makers of the action-packed Xbox Live Arcade title Undertow - for an undisclosed sum.

Chair Entertainment will now be merged into the Epic team, but they will continue to focus their development efforts on creating original titles that harness the power of the next-gen Unreal Engine.

Epic Vice President Mark Rein was definitely happy with the new addition to the Epic Games family, exclaiming: "Chair’s stylized approach to creating games is further enhanced by their ability to stretch our technology in new directions that not only help in creating amazing gaming experiences but also demonstrate the power and versatility of the Unreal Engine."

While the Chair team will be working on new projects within Epic, there is currently no details on whether they will continue to work on XBLA releases or will move on to fully fleshed out console titles.

Chair Entertainment? Pretty odd choice for acquisition. I'm betting Epic use this guys as their driving force into digital distribution, while the larger studios work on full fledged retail games.
