Earthworm Jim revival underway

PALGN News | Along with an animated feature, apparently.
Interplay has told Eurogamer that the studio is working on a brand new Earthworm Jim, as we speculated could happen earlier this month.

It's still a long way off though. The project has only just gotten underway, with no mention of platforms or even a title at this early stage. The creator of the worm, Doug TenNapel, will be working on the project as a creative consultant to make sure the game stays true to the series. In addition to a game, there is also work planned on an animated feature.

Jim was a smash hit in the 90s, with two games for the Super Nintendo and Mega Drive, as well as less successful sequels on the Game Boy Colour and Nintendo 64. There was also an animated series.

If you're not familiar the series, Jim was just an ordinary earthworm until a space suit fell from the sky and landed on him, giving him some rather super abilities. The series was famous for its incredibly warped sense of humour.

Luuuurv the worm!

It's a shame the 'enhanced' PSP port got sh*tcanned. I agree.. the N64 title was interesting (complete with headache inducing camera) but had nothing on the originals. Im hoping for some magic.

So long as it doesn't include the granny chair level(s) from the second game... those were rage inducing.

Did the cartoon series ever get a DVD release?

Unfortunately no. They were released on VHS back in the day in volumes but nadda on the DVD front. Hopefully this terrible act of neglect will one day be remedied.

Heh, I still got the very first Earthworm Jim on PC and I mean physically purchased, not downloaded.

I would very much welcome a new entry.
