Ballarat GIG dated

PALGN News | On in May.
The Ballarat GIG is on for another year and the official dates for the festival have been confirmed. The event will take place on May the 16th and the 17th at the mining exchange on Lydiard Street in Ballarat.

The aim of the Ballarat GIG is to highlight the career options within the gaming industry and to expose and highlight the games industry as a legitimate and viable career option. The event contains extensive course information and information on where and what to study.

This year the event will be free and there will be plenty on show. The GDAA (Game Developer Association of Australia) will be on hand with a presentation, also presenting will be Infinite Interactive, Blue Tongue Studios, Film Victoria, Ballarat Uni, Transmission Games and Third Wave, who will be presenting War World on the Xbox 360.

The regional qualifiers for the World Cyber Games will also be taking place and will cost $25 per person, the qualifiers take place on the Saturday the 17th of May.

Is this a general the-industry-wants-you event, or is it Ballarat-specific?

I think it's a "industry wants you" event mainly, it's great for those who are interested in knowing how to begin in the industry.

What qualifiers will be held for WCG? I'll go if its CNC3. I missed out last year even though I was the best in Oz at the time. The guy that won was a lucky noob unfortunately.

CoD4, Guitar Hero III and a few others I think. Not sure about CNC3.
