The Beatles to get their own Guitar Hero game?

PALGN Rumour | All you need is love...and a proven cash cow.
According to a story posted on the Los Angeles Times website Aerosmith may soon have company on store shelves, with a stand-alone Guitar Hero title based on music legends The Beatles reportedly in the works.

While Sony/ATV Music Publishing - the music publishing company that owns the copyrights to the John Lennon - Paul McCartney penned catalogue - has previously been very tightfisted in the ways that The Beatles music has been licensed, the company's new CEO Martin Bandier, is very keen to change the company's tune by stating that a Guitar Hero title devoted to The Beatles is "something we have talked about and something I'd like to pursue."

The loosening of The Beatles licensing has already started with reality TV hit American Idol finally gaining permission for contestants to sing songs from the vast catalogue of Beatles tracks, but while this is proving a successful venture in the TV stakes, will the proven cash cow status of the Guitar Hero franchise be enough to draw gamers to the classic sounds of The Beatles on their consoles?

Eh, I think they would be better suited to Rock Band, you know, for singing and stuff. They weren't that much a guitar-reliant band.

Still, about a million times better than Aerosmith.

Unbelievable. This is such blatant whoring out of a good series. What in the world is wrong with releasing new songs as DLC? Of course, it doesn't make them as much money icon_rolleyes.gif

I'll be sticking to the main series, not wasting my money on rubbish like this.

This is disgraceful, These games should be digital distribution add-ons for the main games, not games themselves. Put the Beatles and Aerosmith songs in the next GH game, then it would be LEGENDARY.

I was against the idea of single band guitar hero's, but I'd have to buy it if it were The Beatles. One band that I really couldn't pass up.

But Toastfarmer is right, it would be better suited to rock band I think.

Best band ever, on the most unsuited game. Please release it as DLC songs for Rock Band.

Excellent!

Now my family can stop picking on me for my Beatles like stance whilst attempting to rock at Guitar Hero I, II and III. Jerks. icon_shifty.gif

This is most interesting, as the best Beatles guitar solo was by Eric Clapton.

How are they going to get the rights to have actual recordings of The Beatles? All I hear is covers in movies and ads.

The Beetles like Spinal Tap is probably better suited to Singstar rather than Rock Band (or Guitar Hero) as the unlucky person playing drums might have some unfortunate happen to them...

I don't know all the details but i think a deal was made by whoever owns the rights to some Beatles songs. That's why they are going to be on iTunes now and American Idol like the article said.
