Street Fighter movie out next year

PALGN News | Michael Clarke Duncan set to co-star.
Capcom has announced that the upcoming Street Fighter movie will be released next year, and has revealed some new additions to the cast.

Michael Clarke Duncan, one of the (literally) biggest actors around and star of such films as 'The Green Mile', 'Sin City' and 'DareDevil', will feature as Balrog. M. Bison will be played by Neil McDonough of 'Band of Brothers' and 'Minority Report' fame, while Chris Klein from 'American Pie' will play Charlie Nash. Taboo, one of the members of the Black Eyed Peas, has interestingly been cast in the role of the metal-claw-and-mask wielding Vega.

It's previously been announced that the movie will centre around the character of Chun-Li, who will be played by Kristin Kreuk, who will best be recognised from her character Lana Lang from TV show 'Smallville'.

"At Capcom, not only do we strive to make entertaining and profitable games, but we are also always endeavouring to lucratively develop our popular franchises in other media in ways that will please the fans," said the company in a statement. Let's hope this new Street Fighter film is a tad better than the last one then, yes?

Lana Lang seems a little too young a choice to play Chunners.

I thought Balrog was white? Hmmm, long forgotten are my early childhood gaming days.

It would surely have to be better than the first...
Setting a video camera in front of a SF machine whilst someone finishes the game would be better than watching van Damme and Our Kylie massacre the image of SF.

Balrog in the western world was always the black boxer.
But in Japan, Balrog was originally the name for the character we know as Vega. And Vega in Japan was the name of our M. Bison! Confusion reigns supreme!

M. Bison was the boxer in the Japanese version as his character was based on the real life Mike Tyson.

Interesting to see that Taboo is being thought of as Vega... Vega has always been portrayed as some what the "Aerian Race" kind of figure... Mind you, I could see Taboo doing a good impression of thinking himself as the most beautiful man in the world... (after Fabio of course...)

Jean-Claude Van Damme was apparently approached to reprise his portrayal of Guile, but turned it down because he's picky about the roles he takes now.

actually - based on JCVD's back catalogue - this is probably good news.

Holy mother...

I cannot believe they offered him a role again!

I think they'd do better finding someone who actually has the 'look' of Guile. Dolph Lundgren would have been better suited back then for the original SF film.
