There were a bunch of fantastic entries detailing people’s ‘earliest gaming memories’. However, as is the way of the world, even some of the good ones miss out on the glory of victory. Using a complex algorithm, we like to call “the alphabet”, to randomise the winners names, here they are;
Andrew B VIC reminisced about the fact that he spent all of his pocket money on mixed lollies, leaving his gaming responsibilities to his friends. Either that or he wasn’t a spoilt brat with an Intellivision…..
“Aged 7, a friend angrily accusing me of only coming around to his house to play his Intellivision - (...and he was right
Cailen R QLD (who’s got a lot of travelling to do if he's going to get to the exhibition) must have been a youngster when rote learning was à la mode…..
“Learning to read by playing the original Civilization. I knew that democracy was the best government to have but had no idea what it was. “
Ben E ACT showed he was ready to cope with the such things as the Red Ring of Death early on in life…..
“I remember having to code every line of Silver Dollar on my ZX81 each time I wanted to play, as the tape sockets were broken.”
Neil L VIC was one of those kids that were always in front of you whilst you patiently waited for your turn, hoping that your parents weren’t going to collect you to go home anytime soon…..
“I remember my brother and me riding our bikes miles to the only Dick Smith store in Ballarat so we could play Mario Bros on the instore Nintendo.”
Rachel M VIC shared the fact that she used to wear her gaming ‘passion’ on much more than her sleeve…..
“When I was little I had a crush on Luigi, so my Mum knitted me a jumper with Luigi on it (which I still have.)”
We’d like to thank ACMI for the passes to the event. For more information on Game On take a look at our impressions here.
