Rockstar sequel coming in 2009

PALGN News | Plus, Take-Two is coy on new Max Payne game.
With Grand Theft Auto IV due out at the end of next month, Take-Two has suggested what developers Rockstar will be doing with all their free time.

According to Gamasutra, executives in a conference call with investors first noted that the studio would be first be working on GTA IV downloadable content - exclusive to the Xbox 360 - available through until 2009. Take-Two also said that both the 360 and PS3 version of the game be visually almost identical, with the PS3 coming out slightly on top in some areas.

In addition to the downloadable stuff, Take-Two also said that Rockstar had more on the go, stating that the studio would have "at least one major sequel in 2009," and that it would be of "triple A" quality.

Take-Two were also quizzed about any possible new developments in the Max Payne series, given that production of the film adaption of the game, with Mark Wahlberg starring as the title character, is underway.

"It's a little early to comment on any particular title but we have a lot of interesting things going on," was the response from chairman Strauss Zelnick.

Finally, Take-Two also discussed sales figures amongst their franchises. Unsurprisingly, GTA topped the list at an astonishing 66 million copies sold worldwide. The Midnight Club series has shifted a healthy 11.5 million units, Civilization moved 8 million and Max Payne 7 million. Mafia and BioShock have sold 2 million each, while Red Dead Revolver, Manhunt, and Bully all have sold 1.5 million units.

Wow this thread went a bit crazy.

Back on topic; I really hope the sequel is Bully 2. I've been playing the Wii version recently and damn is it good. They've done some amazing work with the characterisation and narrative in the game. Rockstar have made huge advances in open world gaming for Bully. I can't wait to see what that means for GTA IV.

I actually think it's a GTA IV, sequel, sort of like Vice City to GTA III.
