Australian sales charts, week ending 02/03/08

PALGN News | Australia goes Guitar Hero crazy.
We have a new champion. After nabbing second spot last week, the PlayStation 2 Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock bundle has managed to do one better, taking the chart's top spot. Not a bad result, and it is not the last we will see of it this week. Jumping up back into the charts to grab second is Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games for the Nintendo Wii, with last week's champion -- also Mario and Sonic, this time on the Nintendo DS -- dropped to third place. Guitar Hero III makes its second appearance of the week at four, this time on the Xbox 360. Meanwhile, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare managed to improve three slots on last week's finish to close at five.

It's a brand new entry at six -- the latest Sims 2 expansion, Free Time. Well, it was inevitable, given that it had been quite a while since The Sims had last shown its face in the charts. Seventh place is occupied by quirky DS game Cooking Mama 2. Guitar Hero III has the eighth and ninth places on the chart stitched up, this time on the Wii and PlayStation 3, for a grand total of FOUR entries in this week's chart. Crazy. Rounding out the charts at ten is NOT a Guitar Hero game -- but another version of Call of Duty 4, on the PS3 no less.

The charts are updated weekly and are provided by those wonderful people at GfK.
