Splinter Cell: Conviction exclusive to Xbox 360

PALGN News | No Splinter Cell for you, PS3!
After a listing for the upcoming Splinter Cell Conviction was posted up on the UK website of videogame retailer GAME, gamers were quick to speculate the existence of a PlayStation 3 version of the game.

The excitement didn't last for long, as Ubisoft was quick to quash the rumours--with a statement to VideoGamer.com, stating, "This is just a mistake by the retailer. The game is not coming out on PS3."

Ubisoft's spokesmen were also quick to douse the rumour of an April 1, 2008 release date which had also begun circling the internet. With statements such as, "We're sticking to the original announcement", it could very well mean that the wide time frame of April 2008 to March 2009 is the release window that is currently in place for Splinter Cell: Conviction.

The games from the Splinter Cell series have always been better on a Microsoft machine. I can see why Ubisoft is making this move.

The good thing about this is the multiplayer should be tailored for one platform now. It annoyed me in the last game how the Xbox, PS2 and next-gen consoles all got different offerings. I would have loved to have seen spy vs spy on the 360/PS3.

In anycase the series has become a bit stale for me. I hope they can make the singleplayer and multiplayer fresh again.

PS3 is really getting shafted with the games lately it seems, from what ive heard this one is meant to take a lot of gameplay idea's from Assassins Creed, with the use of crowd control and blending into them etc, should be interesting to see what they come up with.

Hopefully you know that SC:DA was made by the 'off' SC team (similar to how COD works) and that this SC is the REAL teams update to the series. So you can be assured it will be better than DA was! They created the best in the series (1 and 3) and Conviction is looking to be no different!

Conviction is the first Splinter Cell game to really interest me, to be honest. Well, except for Chaos Theory... but I was more interested in the soundtrack icon_razz.gif

I'd be surprised if this wasn't a timed exclusive.

I think it's a very good thin Splinter cell isn't on the PS3.

Ubisoft want to revamp the franchise with a complete overhaul and focusing all their attention on the platform that the studio is more comfortable developing for can only result in a better product.

This news is older than Ace of Bass. I'm sure they announced this way back when they started developing it.
But anyways, I'm glad, coz SC on Sony consoles have always been terrible ports, and I'd rather have nothing than a pissweak effort.
And looks like I'm the only one who liked DA!

I like DA too.

I guess PS3 has MGS and 360 has SC.

I'm going to like Splinter Cell: DA......even though I haven't played it yet icon_biggrin.gif

I have enjoyed all of them so far, even Pandora Tomorrow was a joy to play through for me, it had a different atmosphere to the first game and a different tone. Although one minor gripe was that the voice actor for Lambert was different but considering Michael Ironside did the voice for Sam again, that minor gripe has no effect on me liking the PT.

What a weird thing to say...the normal response to this would be "Lucky I have a 360"...lol, I think it would be quite lucky if you were somehow getting a PS3 so that you could enjoy ALL the great games coming up this generation.

Why some people have to pick sides is beyond me icon_biggrin.gif

Lol well I'm in the process of getting a 360 and I've been lucky with my choice of which system over another to buy in the past, whatever decision I have made has come good in the end:

Instead of getting a GameCube I got a PS2, which was good because it meant that when the Wii came out, all the games I missed on the previous system I could buy, so to me the games would be fresh and exciting.

Sony hasn't really impressed me so instead of getting a PS3 I'm getting a 360, which is good because it means I get to play all the games I missed out on that were released on the original X-Box, that weren't on PS2 as well.

I'm not ruling out getting a PS3, but the 360 has one this round in regards to what console I'll be getting to compliment the Wii.

First the PS3 lost Beautiful Katamari, now Splinter Cell.

I think I heard talk about this sometime late last year but it is a blow to the PS3 whenever a title gets canned considering with the Wii being so different they mostly would become 360 exclusives which is a big boost for Microsoft.

The PS3 didn't 'lose' SC because it never had it. It has always been a exclusive 360 title since its announcement at X06 (?).

All pointless anyway, since you know...Ubisoft have sucked since PoP:SoT.

Ubisoft have made some awesome 360 games. GRAW was one of the best, if not the best, launch game and it's sequel as well as Rainbow 6: Vegas are amazing shooters. A lot of people happen to love Assassins Creed as well. As such I doubt that he/myself/or anyone is aware of this icon_razz.gif
