This Week's Releases - 14/1/08

PALGN Feature | Start your engines for 2008!
For the third week of the new year, there are a range of titles for a younger audience and those on a budget to combat the holiday blues.

Wii racing games seem to be the genre of choice, with Cars Mater-National, Action Girlz Racing, Monster Trux: Arenas and Mythmakers Superkart GP all making their way to Nintendo's motion-sensitive device this week. Two Nintendo DS adventure titles, Ed, Edd n Eddy: Scam of the Century and Heracles: Battle With the Gods, will also grace retail shelves this week.

Nintendo has also arguably captured the week's two big releases, with Endless Ocean on the Wii and Sight Training on the DS. Sight Training allows players to sharpen their eyes with a number of different exercises, and is sure to be popular with those already playing Dr Kawashima's Brain Training. For our impressions of Sight Training from the eGames Expo last year, click here.

Meanwhile, for those interested in something completely different, Endless Ocean may provide the exact escape you are looking for. In the game, players can explore the ocean at their own pace as well as interacting with marine life. Indeed, Endless Ocean may prove to be one of the more interesting titles to be released on the Wii this year.

Man January has been rather dissapointing for game releases icon_sad.gif
You'd think publishers would want to cash in on the cash gifts recieved over xmas and lack of competition but no, seems they prefer competing for limited funds and shelf space over the lead up to xmas icon_sad.gif

I'm wondering if Endless Ocean is any good or not? I just haven't seen enough of it.

I really enjoyed it. Just be aware that it is not an action game. It's pretty much a relaxing, hypnotic, pressureless game. Not everyone's cup of tea (I know someone who loathes it for the exact same reasons that I like it.)

January has always been a slow month in the gaming industry as the companies get their big launches in around November for the Christmas lead up and then their next big titles don't come until February.
